Buffalo chicken wrap, an occasional special at Revel Kitchen
Revel Kitchen is on the move again, but this time the existing restaurant is staying put.
Husband-and-wife team Simon and Angelica Lusky first opened the healthy fast(er) food option Athlete Eats on Cherokee Street. It later got a new name and location, in Brentwood. This spring, a second location is slated to open in Clayton.
“Joe Goldberg called me at home, out of the blue,” Simon recalls. “He said, ‘I’m opening a gym in Clayton, and I want you to be in there.’” Goldberg is the franchisee behind TruFusion STL, a fitness class-based gym opening in late April at 7447 Forsyth (at Jackson). “As soon as I saw the concept, I immediately wanted to be a part of it,” adds Simon, who left his position as team chef for the Cardinals with plans to expand the Revel Kitchen concept.
Like the first location, the second will be located next to a gym—but this time it will actually share the space. The restaurant will have an exterior entrance, but it will also allow gym clients access through the studio. Simon expects the location will benefit both businesses. “It’s an amenity for the members,” he says. “We’ll attract business for each other.”
The new location will feature the same menu as its slightly older sibling. While it will be only about 2 miles away, Simon believes it will open the concept to a market that he says it's only beginning to reach with the original location. “When we started offering delivery services from Revel in Brentwood," he says, "we noticed 90 percent of our deliveries were going to downtown Clayton.”
To that end, he plans to initiate a bike- or scooter-based delivery service from the Clayton storefront while offering diners nearly double the seating space of the Brentwood location—both inside and out. The restaurant on Forsyth will offer seating on a mostly covered front patio.
While Simon and Angelica will dedicate the next few weeks to finishing the new space, hiring 20 employees, and updating the spring menu ("look for acai bowls and possibly jackfruit,” hints Simon), they also have an eye on what’s next. “We’re looking for [location] No. 3 now,” he says. “We really want a drive-through!” This time, he’s setting his sights on Kirkwood or Des Peres.
While they've not yet set an opening date, they are planning to open the Clayton location's doors in late April or early May. Both locations will keep the same hours: 9:30 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m. Sunday. TruFusion members will also have early access opportunities at the Clayton location.
