A family-friendly recipe for peanut butter banana smoothie bowls

This recipe has recently been in heavy rotation, because it’s the perfect way to involve the kids.

The instant that I place my blender on the counter, my daughter grabs her apron. This peanut butter banana smoothie has been in heavy rotation in our kitchen, because it’s the perfect recipe to involve the kids, allowing them to add in the ingredients. (My daughter calls the chia seed topping the “sprinkles.”) This smoothie is naturally sweet and filling.

  • 2 large bananas, sliced and frozen
  • 2 ½ tablespoons natural peanut butter
  • 1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa or cacao powder
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional add-ins: coffee, protein powder, fresh spinach
  • Optional toppings: coconut flakes, chia seeds, granola, sliced banana, drizzled peanut butter.

Instructions:

1.) In a high-speed blender, combine the bananas, peanut butter, almond milk, cocoa, and ice cubes. Blend until smooth and no ice cubes remain.

2.) Pour immediately into two bowls, and top with the optional toppings.
