A trio of sliders from Burger 809
Burger 809, a restaurant so small that it doesn’t even have a full address (2619 1/2 Cherokee), is expanding but staying in the Cherokee Street neighborhood.
Yesterday, co-owner Tasha Smith announced a partnership with Bluewood Brewing (1821 Cherokee) that allows for additional menu offerings. Look for more premium sliders, more Southern-themed side dishes (such as its stewed greens mixed with turkey), and riffs on French fries.

Burger 809 opened in 2019 in a 300-square-foot space where customers joked you’d have to turn sideways just to enter—but its cuteness and charm was part of the appeal. (The space has attracted several concepts over the years, including Parm Pasta & Sandwich Co., Teatopia, and the Little Dipper.)
At Bluewood Brewing, Burger 809 takes the place of Mac’s Local Eats, which recently expanded into the former Brew Hub Taproom space on Oakland Avenue. Mac’s operated inside Bluewood for roughly two years, smashing its last burger there in late October.
Bluewood has been in the news of late as well. Several new beers were introduced this week: Cherry Hoptart, Café Noir, and Fireside Chai, a collaboration with new coffeeshop Pipers Tea & Coffee. Last weekend, the brewery hosted a second pop-up with Benton Park neighbor Arzola’s Fajitas & Margaritas, slated to open in the former Ernesto’s Wine Bar space within a month. And finally, two years in the making, Bluewood's first bourbon barrel aged beer—Initiation, a 12.4 ABV Russian Imperial Stout—will be available for sale Jan. 22 in the taproom (online sales begin the following week).
The launch date for Burger 809 at Bluewood is Friday, January 21, at 11:30 a.m.
