After getting engaged in Forest Park, this St. Louis couple toasted at Stifel Theatre

As Devin and Ann Katherine walked over the bridge at the Grand Basin, he proposed—and their families, who were hiding nearby, popped out to surprise them.

Forest Park & Forever: The couple met in fall 2017, when Devin was visiting friends at the University of Kentucky, where Ann Katherine attended. The next year, Devin moved to St. Louis to attend law school at Washington University, while Ann Katherine started working at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. One weekend, Devin told Ann Katherine they were meeting friends on Art Hill for a picnic. As they walked over the bridge at the Grand Basin, he proposed—and their families, who were hiding nearby, popped out to surprise them.

Ceremony & Reception: The ceremony was held at Our Lady of Lourdes, followed by a reception at Stifel Theatre, where the bride envisioned celebrating ever since the grand lobby was renovated a decade ago. During cocktail hour, the bride and groom stole a private moment for dinner, which allowed them to later thank everyone for coming as the rest of the party dined. “It was the most humbling feeling,” recalls Ann Katherine, “having 200 people in one room that loved us just as much as we loved them.”
