Music at the Intersection will return this fall with yet another impressive lineup of local and national stars. More than 50 artists will hit the fest’s four stages September 9 and 10, including headliners Smino, Herbie Hancock, Thundercat, Taj Mahal, Masego, Angela Winbush, and Snarky Puppy.
Last year’s fest expanded its scope from blues, jazz, and heritage genres to bring soul, funk, hip-hop, R&B, and indie rock acts to Grand Center Arts District, but this year Music at the Intersection is one of many events, both locally and nationally, marking the 50th anniversary of hip-hop with a particular focus on the genre. The lineup features artists whose influence spans from the 1970s to today, including hip-hop pioneer Grandmaster Flash, Cameo, Arrested Development, Phony Ppl, and more. A celebration of St. Louis’ imprint on hip-hop is planned for the fest, and an expanded DJ village will feature DJs and MCs from St. Louis and beyond.

In addition to the wide-ranging musical lineup, Music at the Intersection will also highlight other art forms through its Mural Market at The Walls off Washington and its Elemental events, including live street art activations and graffiti demonstrations. Festival food will be curated by Sauce Magazine and include an array of local food trucks.
“We’re back for year three with a lineup featuring hometown heroes, new trending sounds, a celebration of hip-hop, and absolute legends across R&B, jazz and blues,” said Chris Hansen, executive director of Kranzberg Arts Foundation, in a release announcing the 2023 lineup. “Our aim continues to be the creation of a truly accessible, multi-dimensional, and dynamic urban music experience. A ticket to Music at the Intersection delivers block-party vibes with top-tier talent in an environment primed for musical and artistic exploration.”
Both single-day and weekend passes for Music at the Intersection go on sale April 14 at 10 a.m. and are available at musicattheintersection.org/tickets. Prices start at $79.
