Indian Restaurant

Winner

House of India: There’s been an explosion of Indian eateries in St. Louis, and readers says this spot along Delmar is tops. Linen tablecloths add a classy feel. The multi-course thali is your best bet to enjoy the menu’s range of tastes and textures.

Finalists

Himalayan Yeti

Turmeric

Italian Restaurant

Winner

Trattoria Marcella: St. Louis is to Italian restaurants what Vegas is to pawn shops: We’ve got a lot. Why is this one a favorite? Is it the osso buco—tender, fragrant, meaty? Those incredible wild mushrooms with polenta fries? The upscale cucina in an amichevole setting? Yes.

Finalists

Charlie Gitto’s

Cunetto House of Pasta

Latin Restaurant

Winner

Mayo Ketchup: Simple but sophisticated, fried plantain tostones with smashed avocado explain part of the popularity of this charming little place, which serves up bright and delectable Caribbean fare.

Finalists

Asador Del Sur

Tango Argentina Food

Mexican Restaurant

Winner

Mission Taco Joint: Local artists decorated the colorful, creative interiors, where you can enjoy equally colorful, creative tacos, as well as burritos and other Mexican fare. Top it off with tequilas, cocktails, and fruity drinks from the Tiki Time menu.

Finalists

El Maguey Mexican Restaurant

Mi Ranchito

Middle Eastern Restaurant

Winner

Aya Sofia: There’s no charge for the aroma of exotic spices at Aya Sofia, an intimate atmosphere for Turkish dining. An absolute must: the iskender, sliced kebabs with rice and tomato sauce. And baklava for dessert? Don’t mind if we do.

Finalists

Rozanna Mediterranean Restaurant

New Restaurant

Winner

Loaded Elevated Nachos: “Elevated” is an understatement. These nachos are topped with ingredients that you never dreamed belong there: crab Rangoon, Korean barbecue... A nacho smashburger’s pretty awesome, but, oh, dig those cannoli nachos.

Finalists

Joey B’s

John D. McGurk’s Irish Pub and Garden

Pizza (Non-St. Louis-Style)

Winner

Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria: Seasonal ingredients are a constant attraction here, although the regular menu also features an array of interesting toppings, such as clams and squash blossoms. Baked in a wood-fired oven, the crust is exquisite, scorched in all the right places.

Finalists

Blackthorn Pub and Pizza

Pi Pizzeria

Pizza (St. Louis Style)

Winner

Imo’s: St. Louisans’ relationship with Imo’s is like Aphrodite’s romance with Zeus: ancient, intense, and—to outsiders—strange. The Square Affair is a local love story, complete with a Provel cheesy happy ending.

Finalists

Joey B’s

Pirrone’s Pizza

Rooftop Dining

Winner

Vin de Set: Not only is it among the classiest French eateries in town (with a great wine selection), but the rooftop also offers a stunning view of the city, ideal for dining at sunset.

Finalists

Frisco Barroom

Sandwich Shop

Winner

Gioia’s Deli: Two sister locations of this perennially favorite sandwichery are thriving, but the original deli on the Hill—with those paper-wrapped, triple-stuffed hoagies of happiness—is the lodestar of lunch. The legendary Porknado is both fearsome and wondrous.

Finalists

Blues City Deli

Mom’s Deli

Sports Bar

Winner

Syberg’s: Technically, it is legal to watch sports without a plate of wings, but there’s no reason to take chances. Fortify yourself with them—or burgers or pizza—and try to find some athletic event that isn’t on the TVs here.

Finalists

Frankie G’s

The Post Sports Bar & Grill

Steakhouse

Winner

Tucker’s Place: Local craft beers are perfect for the slabs o’ beef that arrive a’sizzle here. All is extravagant and posh. Insiders match that beer with a remarkable burger and fries for lunch, when the place is more relaxed.

Finalists

Kreis’ Steakhouse & Bar

Twisted Tree Steakhouse

Sushi

Winner

Sushi Ai: All-you-can eat sushi can be dicey, but this wildly popular eatery has it down pat, handcrafting sushi at your order. Lunch is good, but dinner is even better, with a wider selection. It’s a fine place for leisurely dining.

Finalists

indo

Wasabi Sushi Bar

Takeout

Winner

Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria: Yes, we’ve had our share of takeout during the past few years. But when the grab-and-go urge hits, we still head for Katie’s and leave with an aromatic pie or pasta, its aroma wafting through the car.

Finalists

J’s Pitaria

Loaded Elevated Nachos

Thai

Winner

King and I Thai Cuisine: Venerable royalty comes in several flavors at this grand old Thai eatery, along with the aromas of curry, basil, and fish sauce. Pad Thai is an unsurpassed mélange of textures. Mango with sticky rice is a must for dessert.

Finalists

Vegetarian/Vegan

Lulu’s Local Eatery: Garden-gobblers elevate Lulu’s as a welcome addition to the dining scene. BBQ jackfruit, buffalo cauliflower wrap, a Cajun “oyster” po’ boy—all are enough to tempt and satisfy even the most skeptical carnivore.

Finalists

Frida's

SweetArt

Vietnamese

Winner

Mai Lee: Yep, it’s also the readers’ pick for best Chinese Restaurant. The Vietnamese menu here, though, is enormous and boasts several soups. One of our go-to dishes: chao bo vien, a rice porridge with meatballs and fried onions.

Finalists

DD Mau Vietnamese Eatery

Winery

Winner

Cedar Lake Cellars: The lakeside scenery, the sprawling party space, and the tastings are all worth the trip, but go just for a romantic dinner of prime rib and the winery’s merlot. Then stroll the vineyards.

Finalists

Chandler Hill Vineyards

Wild Sun Winery and Brewery

Wings

Winner

Syberg’s: Ain’t no thing but a chicken wing? Hardly. That mustard sauce with just enough spice to deliver a kick, the meat tender, and the skin crunchy-crispy are deservedly cherished. Go with the twicefried “trashed” wings for an unforgettable Wingstock.
