A Christmas Story | November 29–December 2
It's a classic—scratch that—the classic. Rather than watching one of the many airings from your sofa this holiday season, opt to see the plot unravel live. Follow Ralphie Parker on his journey to get that infamous Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. Visit website for showtimes. $24–$97. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, 130 Edgar.
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band | November 30
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame musician was supposed to play St. Louis a month ago, but the show was rescheduled for this weekend instead. For fans, it comes with a sad note; after 50 years, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band are on the road for their final tour. Can we get an encore? $52–$122. 7:30 p.m. Enterprise Center, 1401 Clark.
Printing Abstraction | November 30
As a complement to another exhibit (Graphic Revolution: American Prints 1960 to Now) the Saint Louis Art Museum's upcoming attraction's appeal is right in the title. The exhibit will feature a collection of abstract prints and multiples, ranging from minimal and monochromatic to intense, complex patterns and colors. Among the more than 20 artists included in the collection are both those who pioneered it, such as Anni Albers, Marcel Duchamp, and Ad Reinhardt, and more contemporary, such as McArthur Binion and James Turrell. Free. Galleries 234 and 235. Saint Louis Art Museum, 1 Fine Arts.
The Smashing Pumpkins | December 1
A part of local radio station 105.7 The Point's HoHo Show, the alternative rock band is bringing Grammy-winning hits including "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" and "1979" to cities after three of the original members reunited for the first time in 18 years. After multiple band breakups and feuds over the years, this tour should be quite the show. $32–$146.50. 7 p.m. Stifel Theatre, 1400 Market.
Steve Martin and Martin Short | December 1
They're calling it "An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life," but we can't see that being the case. The iconic funnymen have enlisted the help of folk group I'm With Her for their production. Prepare yourself for banter, reminiscing, and the jokes that have hallmarked both comedians' careers. You can catch the special on Netflix beforehand if you'd like to see just what you're getting into—Martin and Short cracking up, parading in various outfits, and even serenading the audience. $58–$253. 8 p.m. The Fox, 527 N. Grand.
