Darren Snow hosts the popular morning show Rocket 88, which airs every Tuesday from 7 to 10 a.m. on KDHX 88.1 FM (kdhx.org). He also spins tunes at the City Museum’s Cabin Inn on weeknights. In between, he thinks about and listens to music on a steady basis, with a keen interest in new and notable acts. We asked him to name three bands he’d like to hear more of in 2015.
There’s a new EP coming in February—and, I hope, a full CD soon after—from UK band Cheatahs, whose soaring melodies and titanic walls of sound will be catnip to fans of My Bloody Valentine, the Catherine Wheel, and Doves.
If your sensibilities are a little folkier, join me in petitioning Communist Daughter for a new record. The group’s 2012 EP Lions & Lambs was a heart-tugging alt-country teaser just begging for a follow-up.
Finally, this will, I hope, be the year that St. Louis’ own techno-pop marvel Née takes it to the next level. The world is ready for them—all they have to do is put something new out there.
