The 2018 baseball season kicked off last week—but for St. Louis, baseball truly returns this Thursday, April 5, when the gates open at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals take on the Arizona Diamondbacks for an evening home opener, with the first pitch slated for 6:15 p.m. Here are five ways to celebrate—whether you need plans before, during, or after the game.
1. Catch the pep rally at Kiener Plaza. Join KEZK and Y98 (who've hosted an Opening Day rally for the past 16 years) for a free pregame party on the recently renovated Kiener Plaza, just blocks from the stadium. The celebration includes food and drinks, games, and entertainment. 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Broadway & Market.
2. Party until midnight on Three Sixty's rooftop. Get a bird's-eye view of the stadium action from Three Sixty, the rooftop bar and restaurant atop Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark. For its annual Rooftop Rally, the bar's offering baseball-inspired cocktails, snacks, and "some fun Cardinals-themed surprises." 11 a.m.–midnight. 1 S. Broadway.
3. Break out your dance moves at Ballpark Village. Among the most popular places to be on Opening Day, BPV has a full day of events planned. Join the pep rally on the complex's Lot C parking lot, with appearances from Fredbird, former Cards players, and a last-minute ticket giveaway. Then watch the game live on the giant screen at Fox Sports Midwest Live!. After the game, party at the "Dance Floor Riot." 10 a.m.–close. 601 Clark. (Note: Be aware of driving/walking changes due to ongoing construction at Ballpark Village.)
4. Order a Sundae at the Ballpark at Clementine's Creamery. The hip micro-creamery has created a special baseball-themed sundae, with half the proceeds going to Cardinals Care. Dubbed Sundae at the Ballpark, the decadent treat consists of scoops of Midnight Pleasures Chocolate and Madagascar Vanilla topped with chocolate-covered peanuts, Cracker Jacks, hot fudge, and more. And it's served in a Cracker Jacks box. What's more baseball than that?
5. Enjoy an open bar and buffet at The Post. Don't fret if you didn't score tickets to the ballpark. The Post has you covered with an all-inclusive Cardinals Opening Day party, including an open bar (with domestic drafts/bottles and well drinks) and a ballpark-inspired buffet (think hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, and cookies). The best part: Admission is just $30. Purchase tickets online. 5:45 p.m. to the final out of the game. 7372 Manchester.
And beyond Opening Day, if you're looking to switch up your game-going experience, consider a baseball-inspired staycation. This baseball season, the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch is offering a Cardinals Baseball Experience Package, which includes two tickets to a weekend home game, a one-night stay, a game-day souvenir, and a food-and-drink credit. When you book, use the promo CARD10. And at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark, opt for the hotel's Grand Slam package, which includes field box seats, overnight accommodations, and a souvenir.
