As if St. Louis Blues fans didn't have enough to talk about, the team has announced that players will wear vintage-style jerseys during three home games of the 2019–20 season. Similar to the ones worn by the team in the mid-1990s, the jerseys will be available for fans to purchase, too.
The jerseys were presented at this weekend's training camp at the recently opened Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights.
Created by Adidas, the jersey's style is largely associated with former Blues players Brett Hull, Wayne Gretzky, Chris Pronger, Curtis Joseph, Al MacInnis, and Brendan Shanahan. The jersey features three diagonal stripes (a musical staff) followed by chunks of red and yellow a little after the shirt's middle and above the elbow of each sleeve. The incorporation of red and yellow is the most notable difference between the vintage threads and the team's current uniforms.
The Blues will wear this jersey November 21 when they play the Calgary Flames; February 27 against the New York Islanders; and March 31 when they face the Detroit Red Wings.
Fans can pre-order the vintage-style jersey here. Or, if you rather, wait to purchase one when Enterprise Center's STL Authentics store sells them for five days only starting on November 19.
