This tweet was the start of a new era in Cardinals social media.
St. Louis Cardinals Fans have long gotten used to the fact that the team doesn’t interact on Twitter.
Sure, the team tweets. After all, Twitter was invented by St. Louisans. But the Redbirds’ official feed is typically filled with play-by-plays, birthday announcements, and the occasional retweet—not interactions with fans or other Twitter accounts.
For example, remember this tweet from last year?
The Chicago Cubs had just won over the Pittsburgh Pirates, putting the Cardinals closer to the National League Central Division title. Predictably, the Cardinals never responded, so fans took it upon themselves to hit back at the Cubs in the most hilarious way possible.

So fans were understandably shocked when this happened today:
Wait, what? The Cardinals know how to reply with gifs? Is this real life?
Naturally, fans have their suspicions…
...because this could change how they experience the beautiful game.
How did the Cardinals go from zero interaction to answering questions about THE WEATHER?
SLM left a message asking about the team’s new Twitter strategy, and we’ll update when we hear back.
In the meantime, Cardinals fans are enjoying the interaction while they can.
