It's good to be a sports fan in St. Louis right now. The Blues are back, we're getting a Major League Soccer team, and let's not forget that it's October, and there's still baseball.
The last time the St. Louis Cardinals were National League Central Division Champions was 2015, but now the Birds are set to play the Atlanta Braves, the league's East Division champs, in a best-of-five series that begins on the road today. The team is scheduled to be back at Busch Stadium to play the Braves for Game 3 on Sunday, and the Cardinals released National League Division Series tickets today at cardinals.com/postseason.
Game 3 begins at 3:10 p.m. on Sunday at Busch Stadium, with gates opening at 12:40 p.m. The official pep rally starts at noon on the Missouri Lottery Outdoor Stage/Busch II Infield at Ballpark Village, with music; appearances by Cardinals organist Dwayne Hilton and Fredbird; and prize and ticket giveaways. There will be a red rally towel giveaway for 40,000 fans who enter with a ticket, and Charles Glenn, the retired Blues National Anthem singer, will be performing the Star-Spangled Banner for the occasion. Hall of Famers Whitey Herzog and Bruce Sutter will throw out the ceremonial first pitches.
As for today's game, you can catch it on TBS or KMOX. Looking for another reason to visit Busch Stadium? For three days at the start of November, the baseball haven will transform into one of the most interesting golf courses in the St. Louis area.
