Blues cry, "Oh Canada!" for northern support in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
As a solution to the lack of Canadian teams in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the St. Louis Blues have welcomed Canadian hockey fans—so basically all of Canada, eh?—to jump onto the Blues bandwagon.
In an open letter to our neighbors in the Great White North, the team thanks Canada for inventing hockey and welcomes any fans looking for a team to root for now that all of the Canadian NHL are out of the playoffs.
“We know this has been a tough post-season, so we want to invite you to join us,” the video says.
The Blues also reveal its natural Canadian connection to tempt new fans: The team has more Canadian-born players than any other. Coach Ken Hitchcock helped lead the Canadian hockey team to two gold medals at the Winter Olympic Games. And St. Louisans enjoy a cold beer just as much as their Canadians counterparts.
To top it off, as pointed out by a commenter, what’s more Canadian than having a goalie nicknamed “Moose?"
As the fanbase wait for the Canadian support, the team will face off with the San Jose Sharks for the second game in the best of seven series at 7 p.m. May 17, where the Blues currently lead the series 1-0.
