Saint Louis Story Stitchers, a collective that helps young people create art that stresses gun violence prevention, is hosting an event Saturday to address Monday's school shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School that left three dead, including the gunman.
During the Harvest Festival hosted by St. Philip's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in the Ville, Story Stitchers partner Dr. LJ Punch will participate in a Q&A with area youths. Punch is the founder of the T, an organization that focuses on helping people heal from trauma due to gun violence or overdose. It also hosts community first responder classes.
Story Stitchers participants will also perform songs.
"This is a time to come together as a cohesive community to support, which is one of the strengths of Story Stitchers—a natural conduit of community for those who are impacted by and care about gun violence," said the organization in a news release.
Story Stitchers will meet at noon at the Sumner High School Pavilion, at Annie Malone and St. Ferdinand. You can learn more about the event here. Learn more about Story Stitchers here.
