On Wednesday, Governor Mike Parson announced that both he and First Lady Teresa Parson have tested positive for COVID-19.
In a release, Parson's office stated that the first lady displayed "minor" symptoms and was tested this morning. The governor was also tested. Both tests came back positive.
In a video posted to his Twitter, the governor appears in the Governor's Mansion and tells Missourians that he is awaiting a second test to confirm the first positive.
"First of all, I want everybody to know that myself and the first lady are both fine," Parson said. "The first lady started showing some symptoms, and today me and her talked, and we sure thought the best thing for her to do was to get tested."
The release states that all official and campaign events have been canceled, though the governor plans to keep working from the mansion. His staff members were all tested and are awaiting results.
The governor said he anticipated being able to give more details tomorrow.
"My concern," he said, "is the first lady, her health, to make sure that she's OK, so one thing I would ask is for your prayers and your thoughts for the first lady."

The first lady also appears in a separate video on Twitter, assuring the public that she is fine, and stating that she woke up with some cold-like symptoms. "I want to reassure you that I'm going to take the next few days, take care of myself, and I will see you again soon," she says.
