St. Louis is consistently ranked one of America’s most charitable cities, and days like Give STL Day prove why. Just ten hours into the 24-hour online fundraiser, St. Louisans had already donated more than $410,000 to more than 900 local nonprofits.
Animal rescue organizations got a boost as Give STL Day started. Stray Rescue of St. Louis had the most support with more than $6,000 in donations from more than 150 people by 10 a.m. on May 3 to top the leader board. Humane Society of Missouri and Tenth Life Cat Rescue also brought in around $3,000 as the charitable event started.

Give STL Day started in 2014 with the goal to raise $1 million for 500 participating nonprofits. By the end of the 24-hour giving period, more than 9,000 people donated $1.1 million to 528 nonprofits. Last year, St. Louis doubled its total and raised $2.1 million.
If raising money for local groups doing good in the community isn’t enough, donors are also eligible for prizes, including Cardinals tickets, and special donation matches throughout the day.
