Cindy Preszler is back. Tomorrow, KSDK's former longtime chief meteorologist will launch WeatherSTL, a website devoted to weather in the St. Louis metro area. The website will provide daily and extended forecasts, an active radar, current conditions, explainer videos, photo contests, and more.
"I think because of my experience—I've been here and on air for 18 years—if people want to find a good source on the weather, they can certainly turn to me," Preszler told SLM via phone while on her way home from the Jewel Box, where she was filming an introductory video for the website. "I know the area. I know the weather here."
After taking early retirement from News Channel 5's parent company, Tegna Media, earlier this year, Preszler is ready to get back in front of the camera. She's been working with fellow meteorologist Ric Kearbey on the website's launch for several months, but her non-compete clause didn't expire until today.
A native of South Dakota, Preszler worked at NBC Chicago and The Weather Channel in Atlanta before coming to St. Louis in 1998. She's won five Emmys (including Best Weathercaster), in addition to other Missouri broadcaster awards.
