When it comes to infectious disease experts, it doesn't get bigger than Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Fauci, who has served as the director of NIAID since 1984 and has advised six presidents on global health issues, has been a reliable source of information—conveying both the severity of the situation and any glimmers of hope.
Now, Fauci will address Washington University and BJC HealthCare employees virtually, as part of its "Grand Rounds," with a lecture titled “Insights into the COVID-19 Pandemic.” The talk will take place Thursday at 8 a.m. Joining Fauci will be two Wash. U. doctors: Dr. Vicky Fraser, the Adolphus Busch Professor and head of the Department of Medicine and Dr. William Powderly, the J. William Campbell Professor of Medicine, co-director of the Division of Infectious Diseases, assistant dean for clinical and translational research, the Larry J. Shapiro Director of the Institute for Public Health, and director of the Institute for Clinical and Translational Sciences.
Although the talk is meant for Wash. U. and BJC employees, those of us who have become interested in all things public health since the start of COVID can watch the lecture, too. (It will also be posted to Wash. U.'s Department of Medicine website after the talk.) It will air live on YouTube, and you can watch it below:
