During the bleak winter months it can be hard to summon the motivation to go out. If it's cold and the roads are icy, the allure of alcohol alone might not be enough to entice you off the couch. Game nights are perfect for the chilly months. Make the effort to trudge through the sludge and be rewarded with a couple hours of jovial camaraderie, beer-a-plenty and a warm chair all to yourself. Trivia nights can be cliquey and competitive so it's best not to arrive solo to a new place and hope to be scooped up. But get a few friends together and try a trivia night in your neighborhood. Even if you don't win the game itself, you can meet some cool people in your neck of the woods.
If you like to answer questions for a cause, the City Museum is hosting a $200 (for a table of eight) evening of quizzes, climbing, and quaffing on Friday, January 28 at 7 p.m. Proceeds from this “No Sweat” trivia night will go to the production of the sweatshop documentary “No Sweat: The Story of Our Clothes and the People Who Make Them”. To reserve a table, call 314-277-4293.
A great place to find weekly and one-off trivia nights is trivianights.net. The site is comprehensive, but it’s a good idea to confirm the details with the event organizers.
