Through June 30: Shrek the Musical
Despite the heat, crowds flock to The Muny every summer to see larger-than-life musical productions. This week, Shrek the Musical, based on the popular movie, premieres. This will be John Tartaglia’s Muny directorial debut, after his critically acclaimed performance as the Genie in last year’s production of Disney’s Aladdin. $12–$80. June 29–August 4: Desert Show: Plants and People of the Western U.S. Deserts
Check out plants from North American deserts and learn about plants used by Native Americans. Visitors will also learn about the economic and medicinal potential of cacti and other desert plants and see traditional artifacts including a replica dwelling. $5 plus garden admission, which is $8 adults, $4 St. Louis County and city residents, $3 seniors, free children 12 and under.
