Memo to Esquire:
Yes, we know you're changing the face of journalism—we saw the electronic-ink cover—and yes, we kind of like Bill Haas too. He's clearly smarter than the average politician, and with more integrity to boot. But we can't help wondering who you had on the ground to research your recent endorsement of Haas for congressional office. The public suicide threat didn't give you pause? The three failed mayoral attempts? The sex-advice column? The lifelong, almost sweet yearnings to be heard? Granted, Haas has as almost as much experience as anyone running for president or vice president in either party this November, after the years at Wal-Mart and on the embattled school board. But really? Congress? — Jeannette Cooperman, Staff Writer
