Self-guided tours are usually a snooze-fest. But when you’re guiding yourself through streets filled with delicious wine, booze, food and merriment—well that’s a different story. And tonight’s beautiful weather will be a perfect backdrop for Maplewood’s Let Them Eat Art.
Now in its seventh year, the festival is one of a kind—a place where foodies and free-spirits meet. While tarot card readings, belly dancing, hoop dance performances, and dream interpretations might not be your thing, chances are you’ll be more receptive to them after a few glasses of wine. Area bars and restaurants will be offering drink and food specials during the event, which runs from 6 p.m. till 11 p.m.
Home Wine Kitchen offers wine and craft beers. Boogaloo will be spooning out sangria. Vom Fass will focus on French wines and liqueurs. Teetotalers should stop at Foundation Grounds for chilled-basil or lavender lemonade. For a complete—and printable—list of all the specials, click HERE.
Once you have a cocktail in hand, check out some of the cultural offerings. Live art demonstrations showcase work from artists with a wide range of styles and include surreal dreamscape painter Genevieve Esson and artist and fabricator Andrew Andrasko.
Can’t get a babysitter last minute? No worries, there’s stuff for the kiddos too: impish grin face painting, Claire the Clown, and a fire-shooting ice cream truck.
Can’t get a dog sitter? Slap a costume on Scruffy and let him strut his stuff at the dog costume contest which starts at 9 p.m. A panel of celebrity judges includes St. Louis Magazine’s own food editor George Mahe.
