Turns out dogs like wine. At least my dog does. She had a few enthusiastic licks of Cabernet before my fiancé intervened. While dogs and wine usually aren’t mentioned in the same sentence, they are two of my favorite things and they are the subjects of an upcoming festival, which also includes another favorite of mine: cheese.
On June 9 from 6 till 10 p.m., the Purina Event Center at Purina Farms (300 Checkerboard Loop, 314-982-3232) will play host to the International Cheese, Wine & Canine Festival, which will feature a sampling of 10 wines, a full glass of your favorite, and cheeses from around the world paired with fruit, crackers and olive oil.
Where do the dogs come in you ask? Presented by Missouri Rhineland Kennel Club, more than 35 international breeds of dog will make cameos at the event, which benefits the Kennel Center.
And lucky for you, this event is featured as one of today’s Hello Goodbuys. $15 instead of $25 gets you admission for one to the festival, with all the goodies and a keepsake wine glass. If one glass isn’t enough to sate your thirst, or if you have a hankering for beer, import beers will be available at a cash bar. Teetotalers can opt for the wine-free option for $9. The limit is four so grab some friends, make a night of it, and don’t forget your lint brush!
