For those of you who haven’t already heard, St. Louis has become somewhat of a darling in the craft beer scene. Urban Chestnut was named one of the top new breweries in the world by Ratebeer.com and The New York Times gave a nod to the city's brewers last fall.
If you’d like to support your local craft beer producers, but haven’t the foggiest idea where to even begin, fret not. This Saturday, August 4, local brewers will be talking hop at the second annual Brewers Summit Beer Tasting at Handlebar (4127 Manchester, 314-652-2212) in The Grove.
As part of St. Louis Craft Beer Week, the event, which kicks off at 1 p.m., will provide insight into the local beer scene and beer-making process, casting light on the creativity and inspiration of local brewers.
Guests will enjoy samples from the participating breweries—Civil Life, Six Row, Urban Chestnut, Schlafly, Charleville, Morgan Street, 4 Hands, 2nd Shift, and Cathedral Square—as well as a nifty Handlebar pint glass filled with their choice of brew to sip during the Brewer Q&A.
Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. You can purchase them HERE.
That evening, armed with your newfound, homegrown craft beer knowledge, head to Bigelo's Bistro (140 North Main, 618-655-1471) in historic downtown Edwardsville for St. Louis Tap Takeover, where all of their taps have been replaced with a local craft brew.
