There is something delightful about delicious fast food magically appearing when you're in the throes of partying. But usually when that man-I-am-starving moment hits you, heavenly grease is nowhere to be found. Hoping to cure the plight of the ravenous reveler, Smash Bar is offering cheap eats to sop up the booze before you head home. And for well under a 10-spot.
Taking over the space vacated by Sugar Lounge, Smash Bar (1405 Washington Ave., 314-707-7512) is essentially a 3 a.m. fast-food joint that saves its patrons a late-night trip to the golden arches.
Each of Smash Bar's nocturnal noshes are served in a brown paper bag, keeping it cheap and classy. The seven menu items include burgers, fries (both regular and sweet potato), and then some rather interesting items. By "cheeseburger" the folks at Smash mean a hamburger dipped in cheese, which sounds like it could be amazing or very messy. And if you want a hangover cure fit for a king, try the Velvet Elvis, a fried peanut butter and banana sammie.
While Smash's website is currently only an old promo page for a New Years Eve party, photos of the venue can be seen on its Facebook page.
