Another report has ranked St. Louis city one of the most dangerous cities in America. Parenting magazine recently ranked St. Louis second in its list of the 10 most dangerous cities in America.
Parenting said this to explain the ranking: "It's tough to label a city as 'dangerous' because many factors go into creating crime rates, including how a city defines a crime and the population included in the calculations. But when we looked specifically at the number of violent crimes per 100,000 people, the city of St. Louis city ranked near the top of our list. Unfortunately, it didn't fare much better when it comes to sex offenders per capita."
Wilmington, Del. beat out St. Louis for the first spot with the most sex offenders per capita and the highest rate of violent crimes per 100,000 people. Other cities rounding out the top five included Orlando, Fla.; St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Baton Rouge, La.
This ranking comes on the heels of new FBI data released this June showing that crime rates are improving in St. Louis, with the city dropping from first to third in the list of those with the worst crime problems.
