I think most people now realize that St. Louis Magazine doesn't post a new issue's complete contents online, but rather a few select articles. Why? Because that's what subscribers and newsstand buyers are paying for. But over time, we do continue building up the archives, so that stlmag.com can serve as an ongoing resource for both longtime and newly settled St. Louisans. While a lot of what we publish is inherently current and about that particular month in time, several of our features don't, in our opinion, lose their relevance as time goes by. Here are a few examples from the September 2008 issue that we've recently added to the archives:
- "A Conversation With Julius Hunter"
- "Breathing Room," a 6,000-word piece by Jeannette Cooperman about the immigrant and refugee experience in St. Louis
- "Betting On a Biomed Bull's-Eye," an in-depth look at St. Louis' bet on nanoparticles
- "The Block Builder," a profile of downtown developer Kevin McGowan
- "Get Schooled," a 10-part lesson plan for parents, written by the Head of the CWE's New City School
- "The Shops Around the Corner," a block-by-block guide to 90 of St. Louis' chicest, best-stocked boutiques
As we continue to add significant features from other past issues, I'll let you know in this space. Waiting for something specific from the reletively recent archives? Drop me a line. -- Stephen Schenkenberg
