Whitfield provides a foundational liberal arts curriculum that marries college preparatory courses with an emphasis on ethics, digital literacy, and leadership. In a close-knit, coeducational learning environment, students in grades 6–12 learn to think critically and ask questions, to lead lives of integrity, and to embrace the complexity of the world. Character education serves as the cornerstone of everything students accomplish in and out of the classroom. By helping students to understand their moral obligations to self, family, and community, Whitfield aims to prepare a generation of connected and empowered students to become thoughtful, principled citizens of the world.
At Whitfield, teachers give students the right balance of challenge and support they need to succeed. Students not only discover new skills and passions, they discover resilience and grit they didn’t know they had. On the stage and in the studio, on the court and field, students begin to understand who they are—and discover the person they want to be. Collectively, the Whitfield experience prepares young people to confidently confront unforeseen challenges, to explore fields of study that are only now in their infancy, to thrive in careers that don’t yet exist.
