Whitfield School cultivates ethical, confident, successful students in a community of innovation, collaboration, and trust. Whitfield’s rigorous college preparatory curriculum for grades 6–12 is rooted in a formal character education program called the Habits of Mind & Heart. Through this curriculum, students learn to think critically and ask questions, to lead lives of integrity, and to embrace the complexity of the world.
Students are equipped with the foundational understanding and skills they need to thrive in college; they learn how to learn, fostering the 21st-century skills—creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, communication—and grow into the best version of themselves.
At Whitfield, teachers give students the scaffolding and support they need to succeed. With the right balance of challenge and support, students not only discover new skills and passions–they discover resilience and grit they didn’t know they had.
On the stage and in the studio, on the court and field, students begin to understand who they are—and discover the person they want to be. Collectively, the Whitfield experience prepares young people to confidently confront unforeseen challenges, to explore fields of study that are only now in their infancy, to thrive in careers that don’t yet exist.
