Stray Rescue of St. Louis is a unique no-kill organization that helps the underdog, who would otherwise be euthanized. The number of dogs and cats being helped has increased dramatically, thanks to the leadership of one woman with a big heart. Executive director Cassady Caldwell is saving more lives than ever before. Even with a shelter full of animals saved from the dangerous city streets, she doesn’t stop there. There are homeless and severely injured animals needing help everywhere, and under Cassady’s leadership, Stray Rescue has emerged as the organization others look to for help. She says “yes” to animals from all over Missouri and beyond who are in desperate need of medical care. This past year, the organization has taken in 31 percent more souls than years past, due to her focus on growing the foster program. “What we do is difficult work,” she says. “Together, we make the impossible possible.”
