Please welcome Dr. Benjamin Root. Benjamin Root, MD, is board certified in internal medicine and is a recent graduate from the gastroenterology fellowship program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY.
Dr. Root was born and raised in St. Louis and attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor for his undergraduate studies. He obtained his medical degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania before completing his internal medicine residency at New York University and his gastroenterology fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering.
He is an active member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College ofGastroenterology as well as in the American Gastroenterological Association.
Dr. Root cares for adults with a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders with a particular emphasis on screening and surveillance of colorectal cancer, GERD/Barrett’s esophagus, functional GI disorders including irritable bowel syndrome and function dyspepsia and inflammatory bowel disease including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease as well as a variety of liver diseases.
After 15 years away, Dr. Root is returning home to his beloved St. Louis to grow his GI practice. He is an avid Cardinals, Blues and University of Michigan sports fan and continues to play ice hockey in his free time. He enjoys discovering new restaurants, attending concerts and the theater and expanding his vinyl collection.
