New City School inspires children ages 3 through sixth grade to engage joyfully in learning and achieve academic excellence while cultivating their personal strengths and passions. Students are empowered to build community and advocate for a more just and equitable world through a hands-on, experiential curriculum that encourages learning and growth through challenging curricular opportunities. Students are successful academically, are knowledgeable about themselves and others, value and appreciate diversity, and are prepared to lead in the classroom and beyond.
Early childhood teachers at New City create an environment where social-emotional and play-based learning techniques are combined with academic activities to provide opportunities for rich learning experiences—whether in the classroom, kitchen, outdoors, or on a field trip. This fall, New City School is excited to introduce renovated classroom spaces for their youngest learners (3s through Kindergarten), which include larger instruction areas, an emphasis on naturalist themes, and increased natural light.
New City School offers a Variable Tuition program to support families at different income levels, while strengthening and sustaining the socioeconomic diversity of the school community. The school embraces the joys and challenges that come with living and learning in a broadly diverse environment, and views childrens’ understanding of identity, diversity, and issues of social justice as a key to achievement in school and beyond.
