With such standout beers as the flagship Art of Neurosis, 2nd Shift Brewing Company has remained one of the area’s best craft breweries since its founding in 2009. Since recently relocating from New Haven to an 18,000-square-foot space at 1601 Sublette, on The Hill, it now also has the distinction of being the storied neighborhood’s first brewery.
“We looked at a number of different spots; this is the first one that really felt like home,” says co-owner Libby Crider. “The Hill is an amazing neighborhood with a unique history in St. Louis. We’re excited that we get to lay down our roots here.”
The larger space will let 2nd Shift increase production, release small experimental batches, and explore packaging formats. A new tasting room will feature wines and food from the Tilford Restaurant Group, owner of Mission Taco Joint. “The tasting room provides us with an opportunity to connect with people in a way we were never able to do previously,” says Crider. “Our hope is to not only provide great beer to our existing fans but also create new ones.”
