Pantone, the arbiter of all things relating to which shades are in and which ones are out, has picked emerald green for the top color of the coming year. Emerald green? As in four-leaf clovers, Leprechauns, the fighting Irish, and that gorgeous, albeit expensive, gem? We wondered how one who likes to be on trend at all times would use this color in their own home so we turned to Retta Leritz of Hip & Gable (314-308-3096, hipandgableinteriors.com) for advice.
“The Pantone Color of 2013 is rich and luxe and is absolutely easy to incorporate into any existing décor,” Leritz says. “Emerald really pops against neutrals and can bring out the richness in everything from yellows to blues to pinks.
The easiest way to incorporate this hue is to change out your accessories. Pillows and throws are inexpensive and can transform the look of a simple sofa or chair.”
Some great examples:
“Incorporating inexpensive artwork is another great way to add a shot of emerald!”
“Don't forget about the kitchen, either. Change out your favorite appliance for one that is a shot of color! It's an easy fix, and you get to look at it every day on the counter.” For example, a Kitchen Aid mixer in bayleaf green.
