The “Grand New” SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital is set to open its doors on September 1 at the corner of Grand and Chouteau. The 802,000-square-foot facility has 316 private inpatient rooms, an emergency department, a level 1 trauma center that’s three times larger than the current one, and advanced telemedicine capabilities.
“I’m most excited about the beds, which will give us the capacity to serve a sicker population,” says Steven Scott, president of SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. “Having private rooms will also help manage patients who come to us with a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.”
Advanced telemedicine capabilities will also improve the patient experience. Patients will have access to educational options, food selection, and entertainment all at their fingertips through a TV remote at their bedside.
“We are so pleased to be part of the revitalization of this neighborhood in the city," says Scott, "and to be able to bring 21st-century tertiary care to the community that we serve.”
