The remarkable efforts of nurses in St. Louis often go unnoticed. They consistently exhibit selfless care, compassion and service. To honor these dedicated nurses, St. Louis Magazine hosted the 10th annual Excellence in Nursing Awards. See this year's finalists, chosen by a distinguished selection committee. The winners were unveiled in St. Louis Magazine's May 2019 issue and at a reception on April 18, sponsored by Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College and Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Keynote SpeakersWe're proud to present Teri Griege, the keynote speaker at this year's Excellence in Nursing awards reception. Two weeks after completing the Ironman Louisville in 2009, Griege was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer with metastasis to her liver. But, that didn't slow her down. With the help of her friends and family, she crossed the finish line at the The Ironman Word Championship in Kona, Hawaii on October 8, 2011. She was 50 years old. Griege considers her diagnosis and story a gift. She is also the founder of nonprofit, Powered By Hope, which is dedicated to providing hope through programs that inspire, recognize, and support individuals affected by cancer.
