With winter looming on the horizon, many people are thinking and planning ahead for those cold weather months. Preparing your body for winter is just as important as preparing your house or car, and getting a flu shot is one way to guard against those seasonal germs. Doctors recommend that everyone ages 6 months and older should get an annual flu shot, especially if they are over 50, have a chronic health condition, work in healthcare, or live with anyone we’ve described. If you haven’t gotten your flu shot already, there are still a few places in St. Louis offering free flu shots on certain days; many in conjunction with local health fairs and awareness events. Some events have age restrictions, and some recommend making an appointment to ensure vaccine availability, since vaccines are offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
