Brain fog is a topic that is rarely discussed but plagues many people. Lack of mental clarity and the inability to think clearly most of the time are the primary symptoms. It can often leave you felling inept, especially at a time when you’re needed the most. After some reading, I discovered that the culprit could be gluten. I admit at first it came as a surprise to me; however, after reviewing my history with food and how I felt when I over indulged in the wrong foods, (bloated, and inflamed with lack of mental clarity) I quickly came to the conclusion that my diet might be contributing to my brain fog. According to contributors at Natural News, gluten sensitivity may contribute to inflammation in the body, including the brain, contributing to brain fog.
In the last few years, gluten-free diets have grown in popularity. What once used to be a gluten-free aisle in the grocery store has now transformed into stores that specialize in gluten-free products. Whatever the case, those choosing to practice gluten-free diets report better health and weight loss as an added bonus, but with anything moderation is the key. According to Natural News contributor Dr. Wilson, getting off gluten has also shown to stabilize mood, improve grades, increase motor skills, promote faster learning, improve concentration and eliminate brain fog. Wilson states that people who are sensitive to gluten often suffer from malabsorption, leading to low levels of essential nutrients in the body, inhibiting mental development in children, and leading to deficiencies in people of any age.
If you or someone you know is suffering from brain fog, you might want to consult with your doctor to determine if you have gluten sensitivities or vitamin deficiencies. Don’t let brain fog rob you of your quality of life.
