Now that the weather is warming up, there’s no better time to get outside and start exercising. Whether you want to run a marathon or take a leisurely jog through a garden, check out these runs coming up in April that offer something for every age and experience level.
April 5 & 6: GO! St. Louis Marathon & Family Fitness Weekend
This annual event features a full and half marathon, 5K walk/run, children’s fun run, “mature mile,” and more. Routes take runners past popular sights like the Anheuser-Busch InBev brewery, Forest Park, and Busch Stadium. Call for prices and times. Downtown St. Louis, 314-727-0800, gostlouis.org.
April 5: Great Amazing Race
Ever dream of being a contestant on The Amazing Race? Live your dream with this run, modeled after the T.V. show. Teams of two, including adults and kids, race around a one-mile cross course completing a string of fun challenges that include varying levels of difficulty. $40 per team, $50 per team on the day of the race. 2 p.m. Creve Coeur Lake Park, 12131 Marine, 513-518-0528, greatamazingrace.info/st-louis.html.
April 19: Hops Run 5K
Hop down the bunny trail (and taste some delicious brews) at this event in Forest Park. Runners ages 21 and older can participate in four silly challenges along the 5K route and end their run with breakfast and craft beer. Runners ages 13 to 20 can also participate in the 5K, with craft soda substituted for craft beer. A Bunny Run for Kids will also take place for children ages 4 to 12. April 26: That 80’s Run
Break out your boom box and spandex for this fun 10K, 5K, and 1-Mile Fun Run at St. Charles Community College. Register by April 11 to choose a safety pink, sapphire, or lime shirt to complete your ensemble. Runners ages 18 and older in the 5K and 10K races will be entered to win a $1,000 scholarship to St. Louis Community College. Call for prices and times. April 27: Tulip Trot
Run amidst the flora and fauna of spring at the Missouri Botanical Garden during this leisurely 5K.
