The largest no-kill organization in the St. Louis metro area is at maximum capacity, but hopefully not for long.
On August 1, Stray Rescue of St. Louis announced Thursday that the CEO of fast-food restaurant Raising Cane's, Todd Graves, would be covering adoption fees through the month of August for dogs and cats 6 months and older.
Since that announcement, 10 adult animals have had their adoption fees covered. Natalie Thomson, director of marketing for Stray Rescue, says that while puppies and kittens find homes almost immediately, initiatives like these help the shelter shine a light on the older animals.
Animal-lovers who can't adopt are welcome to support the shelter's mission in other ways such as fostering animals, volunteering their time, and donating money to help support the organization. Stray Rescue's adoption team works like matchmakers, meeting with potential families to determine their environment and lifestyle. The team then introduces the family to a few animals they think would be a good fit.
"We always hope their perfect match will come in," Thomson says.
