This weekend, the symphony puts on a family-friendly concert that highlights the works of Beethoven.
April 15–16: Fiddler on the Roof
Dayspring School of Arts presents the well-known story of Teyve, a poor Jewish dairyman, and his coming-of-age daughters in the musical Fiddler on the Roof. $8–$17. 7 p.m. Fri, 1 p.m. Sat. Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, 5252 S. Lindbergh. Go online for tickets.
April 16: National Junior Ranger Day
Kick off National Parks Week (April 16-24) at the Gateway Arch on Saturday for an all-day event. Children ages 5 and older can earn a junior ranger badge by completing activities listed in a booklet that will be available at the event. The program is designed to teach kids about St. Louis' history during the 1800s. Free. 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Old Courthouse, 11 N. 4th.
April 16: Flute Society of St. Louis Concert
The entire family can enjoy an ensemble concert presented by The Flute Choir from the Flute Society of Saint Louis. Musicians will play such instruments from the flute family as the piccolo, C-flute, alto flute, and bass flute. Free. 2 p.m. Meeting Room 1, Grant's View Branch, 9700 Musick.
April 16: Make Wildflower Paper
Children ages 6 to 12 (along with a caregiver) can attend a paper-making workshop. Learn to make paper from scraps and to embed wildflower seeds. $25. 10 a.m. Perennial, 7413–15 S. Broadway. 314-832-2288. Go online for tickets.
April 17: Beethoven's New Groove Family Concert
This month's St. Louis Symphony Family Concert focuses on Beethoven's masterpieces. Families with children ages 5 to 12 can enjoy selections from Beethoven’s Fifth and Ninth symphonies, along with classics like Tchaikovsky’s waltz from Sleeping Beauty.
