Perseid Meteor Viewing | August 9–10
Get away from the city lights for a spectacular meteor watch party at Broemmelsiek Park on Friday night or Babler Memorial State Park on Saturday. Both events will have a guide available to point out the stars and share telescopes. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, snacks, and bug spray. Free. 9 p.m.–midnight, Broemmelsiek Park.
Train Rides at St. Louis Live Steamers | August 10

Kids Night Out | August 16
Get fired up for school with Third Degree Glass Factory. Kids over age 10 can make a paperweight or glass beads, while kids over age 6 can make fused glass charms for an extra fee. Glass-blowing demonstrations, Pi Pizza food truck, and fiery entertainers will also be on hand. Donate art supplies to receive a free snow cone. St. Louis World's Fare Heritage Festival | August 16–18

Dav Pilkey’s “Do Good Tour” | August 18
Meet the author who makes reading fun when Pilkey comes to Chaifetz Arena. Kids can meet the author, get a signed copy of Dog Man: For Whom the Ball Rolls, and have their picture taken with Captain Underpants. Mr. Pilkey will give an inspiring talk, complete with illustrations created live on stage. Doors open at 1 p.m. $25 (includes two seats and parking at Chaifetz garage). Chaifetz Arena.
Festival of Nations | August 24–25
Introduce your family to a world of flavors and fun at the annual Festival of Nations. There will be more than 40 food booths, an international bazaar for shopping, and music and dance demonstrations all day long. Free admission and shuttle service. Tower Grove Park.
Tour de Fun | August 25
Take the family out for a carnival with a cause. Inflatables, pony rides, games, and kid-friendly entertainers such as Babaloo and Serengeti Steve will be on hand. Proceeds go toward scholarships at the Early Childhood Education and Family programming at the St. Louis Jewish Community Center. Tickets for kids under age 10 are $12 online and $18 at the door. St. Charles Riverfest | August 30–31
Celebrate the 4th of July in August at Riverfest. The festival was pushed back due to early summer flooding, but Frontier Park is high and dry now. Enjoy carnival rides, the Bubble Bus, and live bands. And see fireworks on Saturday, beginning at 9:20 pm. Free. Frontier Park, 222 S. Riverside.
