March 3-4: Monster Jam
Love big trucks? Really, really big trucks? Bring your kids (and hearing protection) for noisy, adrenaline-charged fun as Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, and EarthShaker compete in races and free-style events. Check the Monster Jam website for show times and ticket information. Tickets range from $15–$125. The Dome at America's Center, 701 Convention Plaza.
March 3: Periscope DIY Workshop
It's time to get crafty with Home Depot. Kids can make their own working periscope from wood and mirrors, then decorate it with paint and stickers. Kids get to keep their apron and a commemorative pin. Children must be in the store to receive a kit. Free. 9 a.m.–noon. RSVP online at The Home Depot. All locations.
March 3: Nine PBS KIDS Party
Join Buddy and the Dinosaur Train back to The Magic House with a fun party that includes Curious George, Clifford the Big Red Dog, and Super Why. Kids can craft a King Friday crown and learn so many things! Plus, all kids under 12 who bring in a new book or package of diapers (over a $10 value) to donate to the St. Louis Crisis Nursery get free admission. 9:30 a.m.–4 p.m. The Magic House, 516 S. March 3: Children's Garden Club
It's time to dig in the garden. Welcome spring by learning about pollinators and plants with the St. Louis County Parks Department. Free. This month the club will meet at Sherwood Forest and Garden Center, 2651 Barrett Station.
March 4: Family Day at the World Chess Hall of Fame
Join the World Chess Hall of Fame for a kid-oriented open workshop, replete with crafts and games based on the museum's current exhibitions (right now that includes exhibits about chess olympiads and chess fashion). Kiddos can also explore the gallery through a scavenger hunt. The activities are designed for children ages 5 to 12, but "older siblings and the young at heart are welcome."
