July 7: Movie Night by the Lake
Pack your lawn chairs and blankets to watch Sing at Westport Plaza. Bring your own food and drinks or pick some up along the way from the plaza’s restaurants. Babaloo will entertain the kids from 7:15–8:15 p.m. Then Sing will start at 8:30 p.m. Access the lake from the outdoor village or the back parking lot next to 940 Westport Plaza.
July 7: Summer Fun: Flowers and Trees
Learn about flowers and trees at Powder Valley Nature Center during this fun, free event. There will be hands-on activities inside and outside the center, and you can take the kids on a hike around the park. There’s a handicap-accessible hike for a casual stroll and a longer hike through the park’s steep hills. July 8: Mosaic Masterpiece
Leave your artistic mark at The Magic House as visiting artists Angelika Huskamp and Catharine Magel work with kids to create a beautiful mosaic piece to be installed in the front garden. Included with admission. 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m. Sat, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Sun. The Magic House, 516 S. Kirkwood.
July 8: Family Fun Day at the Aquatic Center
Enjoy a family pool party at Chesterfield Aquatic Center—and don't forget your duct tape! The highlight of the day’s events will be a Cardboard Boat Race. All boats must be built of cardboard and duct tape, capable of holding two people, and be paddled 50 feet across the pool. There will be two age groups for the races: under age 13 and over age 14. July 8: Mighty Tot Triathlon
Is your kid a mighty tot? Find out at the (noncompetitive) Mighty Tot Triathlon at Blanchette Park. Kids ages 3–6 can participate in a mini Iron Man by running 300 to 440 yards, biking or triking a quarter mile, and plunging down a jumbo water slide. Every tot receives a medal for crossing the finish line. Parents are invited to run alongside their mini athletes; children must wear a helmet for the bike portion of the event.
