Missing the movies? Several of the region's drive-in movie theaters are opening this weekend after stay-at-home orders are beginning to relax in both Illinois and Missouri counties. Although drive-in movie theaters were not necessarily extinct before the pandemic, the social distancing nature of the theaters might make for an ideal form of entertainment as we social distance.
Here are the Missouri and Illinois theaters to catch a flick at this weekend.
1. Skyview Drive-In Movie Theater, 5700 N Belt W, Belleville, Illinois.
As the theater reopens, it is operating at half-capacity with one bar between each pole. Admission prices will be dropped to $10 (viewers are asked to bring exact change). The concession stand will be closed to traffic and a limited menu will be available on the patio. There will be twice the amount of porta-potties, which are sanitized every 15 minutes, as regular bathrooms will be closed. Upon arrival, customers will be given trash bags that are to be taken home with them to throw away.

To start the season, the theater is showing Groundhog Day, which feels particularly fitting.
