August 25: Free Family Fridays at the Old Courthouse

August 25: Meet Nanea Mitchell
Meet the newest American Girl Doll, Nanea Mitchell, from Hawaii circa 1941. Kids can visit the American Girl Store on Friday to meet Nanea, make a free craft, get a doll drawstring bag while supplies last, and enter to win a Nanea doll. For doll lovers over the age of 8. August 26: Taste of COCA
The Center of Creative Arts is having an open house for families. Sample "bite-sized" classes in dance, theater, voice, and visual arts just for kids and teens. Then enjoy a live performance by COCA students, and visit a gallery exhibition. The event is free, but you'll need to register before dropping by. August 26–27: Festival of Nations
It's the biggest multicultural celebration in town. Come to Tower Grove Park for singing, dancing, international food, arts and crafts, and a huge world bazaar. Kids can make a mask, have their face painted, and learn a new song on an instrument they made themselves with help from JOIA. The whole family can learn to dance the Flamenco, a Mexican Hat Dance, belly dance, and hula. Free. 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday. 2710 S. Grand.
August 27: Pet-A-Palooza at Purina Farms
Celebrate your pets—or adopt a new one—at Pet-A-Palooza this weekend at Purina Farms. Kids can learn how to groom their pet, play on inflatables, get a photo with their pet in a photo booth, and check out the Pro Plan Performance Team dogs. There will be live music, food, and a chance to buy the best gear for your furry friend. Dogs are welcome, but they must be non-aggressive, on a leash, and have their shots up to date.
