August 11: Grooving in the Garden at The Magic House
Dance the evening away with Celia's Sing-A-Long Dance Party in The Magic House garden. There will free samples from Andy's Frozen Custard (while supplies last) to keep you cool. The Magic House is open until 9 p.m. on Fridays, but the dance party only runs from 4–6:30 p.m. Included with regular admission. 516 S. Kirkwood.
August 11: Frisco Fun Night
Calling all junior engineers. Hang out at the Frisco Train Store for an evening of playtime on some of the coolest train tables in town. Activities include face painting, train cookie decorating, and access to the all the train tables, including the upstairs party room tables. Cost is $5 for children 18 months and older. Adults are free. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. 5:30–8:30 p.m. 24 Front (Valley Park).
August 12: World Elephant Day at Grant's Farm
Learn about elephants and celebrate in huge style. Kids can visit with the Grant's Farm elephant handlers and do elephant inspired crafts in the Cedar Grove tent next to the elephant amphitheater. Elephant Education shows are at 11:15 a.m., 12:45 p.m., and 2:15 p.m. Free. 10501 Gravois.
August 12: Dred Scott Festival of Freedom at the Missouri History Museum
In 1857, Dred Scott was denied his freedom by the country's highest court, which said he wasn't considered a person under the U.S. Constitution. The Missouri History Museum is commemorating Scott's commitment to justice with the Festival of Freedom. Families can expect live art, music, coloring pages for kids, and a short theatrical performance. Free. 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Lindell and DeBaliviere in Forest Park.
August 13: Free Family Day at Laumeier Sculpture Park
It's a Total Eclipse of the ART at Laumeier Sculpture Park's Free Family Day this Sunday. Kids can make a custom pair of solar glasses to prep for the big eclipse later this month and make prints using sunlight. The activities are designed for kids ages over 4 and can be scaled up or down for your child's skill level. Free. 2–4 p.m. 12580 Rott.
