Virtual reality is coming to City Foundry STL.
The Midtown food-and-entertainment development, which already features a food hall and will soon welcome an Alamo Drafthouse, announced this week that it will be opening Sandbox VR, a "full-body virtual reality entertainment experience," on November 4. Sandbox VR will be located adjacent to The Food Hall at City Foundry STL.
Sandbox VR immerses players into different themed video games and uses full-body motion capture. Up to six players enter one of four private game rooms—called "holodecks"—and dress in a VR headset, haptic vest, backpack, and motion sensors on their wrists and ankles, which allows them to interact with one another while getting the sensation of being immersed in the themed world. Players will have a choice of six games: Deadwood Valley, Deadwood Mansion, Curse of Davy Jones, Amber Sky, Star Trek: Discovery, and UFL: Unbound Fighting League.

“City Foundry was developed to showcase the best of our city in one place and it is with great pleasure that we welcome this first-to-market, curated entertainment venue,” said Will Smith, managing director of New + Found, in a press release. “We are pleased with the robust offerings now on-site from food and beverage, to retail and diverse entertainment. Sandbox VR is a virtual reality concept unlike any other in the region, and its addition further enhances the City Foundry STL experience for groups of friends and family, corporate events, and so many others.”
Guests who book a Sandbox VR experience by November 3 will receive 30 percent off, or $39 per person. Learn more or book a session here.
