My oldest, Stella, age 6, has always been quite sporty. She has been playing soccer since she was 18 months and she's always up to try a new sport; she even asks to go on runs with my husband.
Last week when I heard that The Dailey Method St Louis (1560 S. Lindbergh, 314-569-9073) was offering a Parent and Me Yoga class I knew this would be right up her alley.
Here is a little more about this class in detail:
Join The Dailey Method the first Saturday of every month for a 45 minute Parent/Child Yoga class. The Dailey Method is founded on a passion for offering the most balanced, anatomically safe, and fun classes. The goal of our Parent/Child yoga class is to bring postural awareness to the youngsters, as well as offer an opportunity for families to strengthen their bodies, minds, and confidence in a fun environment.
Bright and early (8:15 am) we arrived at the studio to check in and Stella just took it all in.
Giddy waiting for her "Bestie" to arrive, she took off her shoes and socks and put them into their little cubbies. She kept telling me how beautiful the studio space was. You could feel her excitement and nervousness of being at a "real" workout studio.
We entered into the studio laid out our mats when her "bestie" arrived. They took it upon themselves to stretch out on the bar in anticipation for the class.
All eyes were on Tracy who lead our 45 minute class. Wonderful with the kids, she even took extra time to make her playlist hip and current to appeal to the kids. At one point during John Legend's "All of Me," you could hear the kids singing with the track while in downward dog. Challenging for both the kids and adults, those 45 minutes flew by.
While rolling up our mats at the end of class, Stella asked me if there was another class "tomorrow." I promised her we would be back for the next class in November.
What made it even more memorable? When Stella held my hand as we were leaving and when she told me that she loved spending time with me doing yoga. My heart melted then and there. It's so fun to now know we have a "thing" that she and I can do once a month together. And I cannot think of anything better than that.
If you are interested in joining the class (November 1st and December 6th) you can call the studio or register on line.
A special thanks to our good friends, The Fischers, for coming and joining us so early on a Saturday morning.
