Love is in the air, so make the rest of February extra special by showing your most precious ones what it feels like to have a special date.

The Orchid Show
Because flowers are a fortune this weekend, take your girls and boys to see the colorful beauty that awaits at the orchid show at Missouri Botanical Garden (4344 Shaw, 314-577-5100). The indoor tropical setting is perfect for the hundreds of species in bloom and also the chill in the forecast! Through March 22, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily. $5 per person ages 3 and up in addition to garden admission.
The Symphony Family Concerts
Tickets are still available for next weekend’s family concert with the Grammy-award winning St. Louis Symphony (718 N. Grand Blvd., 314-534-1700). From Bach to Rock to Hip Hop on February 22 at 3 p.m. features PROJECT Trio and the St. Louis Symphony as they explore rhythm and music with familiar pieces like the "William Tell Overture" and Brahms’ "Hungarian Dances." The recommended age is 5 and up. Kids can take a closer look at the instruments in the foyer before the performance. Tickets start at $12 per person.
Stroll Down Memory Lane
Make memories last at My Handyworks (104 South Main, 636-724-7337) where kids of all ages can create masterpieces out of their own handprints and/or footprints. Projects range from 3D hand molds to prints with artistic designs and a framed background. Then stroll across the street to The Little Soda Shop (125 North Main, 636-724-0978) where you can tell stories about what life was like several decades ago. The hand-mixed sodas and old-fashioned ice cream and shake menu speak for themselves, but it’s the cool retro candies, vending machine, electric horse rider, and vintage cash register that are memorable.
Extra Hugs
Sometimes you don’t have to leave your own house to have a special date with the kids, whether it’s snuggling all day with your new bundle of joy or sharing some stories with your teenager from back in the day. Turn off the television, put the phone and computer away, and cuddle up with a book, a photo album, or old letters or art projects from your childhood.
