The obstacle courses on American Ninja Warrior make backyard jungle gyms look like nothing. The television show, a spinoff of the Japanese series Sasuke, has competitors go through a series of obstacle courses with difficulty increasing in each installment. They can be tough for even the most skilled of gymnasts. But sitting on our sofas, we yell in outrage: "How did he miss that jump?"
This weekend, we could put our money where our mouthes are. But rather, let's let the kids have all the fun.
Ultimate Ninjas, a local obstacle course facility in Chesterfield (140 Long), is offering children ages 6 or older the opportunity to train alongside some of the show's pros. Nine competitors—including Grant McCartney, Jake Murray, Jesse “Flex” Labreck, Kirsti Pratt (who manages the Chesterfield location), Michael Torres, Chris DiGangi, Brian Redard, Mike Silenzi, and Ethan Swanson—of American Ninja Warrior will lead five sessions, called Pro Camp, December 1 and 2.
For $85, youngsters get two-and-a-half hours of ninja fun, including training obstacles like the jumping spiders, salmon ladder, and a four-level warped wall (for all skill levels), and seeing how the pros handle the course. Don't think it will be so easy for them—this course includes the 14-foot-6-inch wall on the real show.
Parents can find more information and times visit Ultimate Ninjas' website.
